Comfortable

“We picture what we think perfection might be, what we are told it is, sometimes simply whatever we are not.
We wish for those things. Sometimes we try very hard to achieve them. Most often, if we ever attain them, we hold onto them briefly and we lose them again. Life isn’t meant to be a struggle against ourselves.
I’ve found it much more fulfilling to spend life trying as hard as I can to let myself out, to arrange a place in the world—in physical space, in society, in my own mind—where I can be, comfortably, as much myself as possible.”
